Trump plans 100 executive orders on border, deportations and other priorities
President-elect Donald Trump is gearing up to issue
over 100 executive orders on his first day in the White House, signaling a bold
move to address key policy priorities such as border security, deportations,
and other issues. During a private meeting with Republican senators on Capitol
Hill, Trump and his team outlined plans to launch many of these actions on
Inauguration Day, January 20th.
The proposed executive orders cover a wide range of
topics, including border security, immigration enforcement, energy development,
federal workforce rules, school gender policies, and vaccine mandates. Trump's
allies have been preparing a stack of orders that could be swiftly signed to
fulfill his campaign promises.
While executive actions on the first day of a new administration are common, the scale of Trump's planned executive orders
is unprecedented. By bypassing Congress and wielding executive power in
untested ways, Trump aims to quickly implement his policy agenda.
Republican senators briefed on the plans expect the
new administration to roll back many of the executive orders issued by the
Biden administration and replace them with Trump's proposals. Key measures
include finishing the U.S.-Mexico border wall, setting up immigration detention
facilities, and deporting migrants without legal authority.
Senators anticipate that Trump will focus on deporting
an estimated 1 million migrants who recently entered the country, committed
crimes, or have been ordered to leave by the courts. As Trump prepares to take
office, his Cabinet and administrative picks undergo Senate confirmation
hearings.
